Day 6 - We Are The Future

First stop this morning - waffles with all the trimmings! Mmmmmmmm!

Then we took off to the National Museum of Democracy (Old Parliament House) where we were given some fancy white gloves to preserve the historic memorabilia from our Governing history. We then spent some time in an interactive space where we were able to access loads of information on all our past Prime Ministers.

We were then given a tour of the Senate where some of us even got to dress up as pioneering politicians in history and re-enact some significant moments.

Back on the bus and down to Lake Burley Griffin for morning tea and to enjoy some glorious sunshine. We then walked up to the National Library of Australia where they gave us a behind the scenes tour. We only saw a sneak peak of the 10 million items they currently have on site! Our highlight of the tour was meeting "Isaac" the robot that helps to collect and transport books around the 8 story building.

We were so excited to come back to our accommodation to be met with a nice, hot, buffet lunch to refill our tanks before taking off to Parliament House. We got some happy snaps out the front before heading to one of the lush grassed hills which amused us for half an hour and gave us spectacular views over Canberra.

Security was tight, we passed through metal detectors before walking through the grand marbled foyer. After water and some roll-ups, we were ready for our tour. We were engaged by our knowledgeable guides who gave us a description and a tour of the House of Representatives and the Senate. We were shown the portraits of past Prime Ministers - with the theme of hairy eyebrows being very apparent.

Roast beef for dinner and an early night (yay for us teachers!). Tomorrow is a 5:30am wake up for our big day in the snow!
